Altova StyleVision 2005 is the ultimate electronic forms, database report, and stylesheet designer
for transforming XML and database content into HTML, PDF, and Word/RTF output. StyleVision 2005
supports XSLT 1.0/2.0, XSL:FO, and all major databases. In one simple step you can access XML or

Automate Stylesheet Creation
Writing even the simplest transformation stylesheets manually is a difficult, time consuming task. It
requires an understanding of XSL elements, the XPath language, and complicated rules-based document
processing models. StyleVision 2005 abstracts away the underlying error-prone syntax, enabling
you to write stylesheets using a visual interface, which takes considerably less time, reduces the
occurrence of errors, and lets your creativity thrive.
With StyleVision 2005, you design a special type of XSLT-based stylesheet called a StyleVision
Power Stylesheet (SPS). The SPS is created visually using drag-and-drop and intelligent design functions.
Your SPS can be based on any DTD, XML Schema, or even a database, and it simultaneously produces
standards-conformant XSLT 1.0/2.0 and XSL:FO stylesheets, plus the corresponding Authentic electronic
form - all based on one design! At any time during the design process, you can preview and save the XSLT
and XSL:FO stylesheets that are auto-generated based on your SPS.
In addition to defining formatting and layout guidelines, StyleVision 2005 allows you to design
stylesheets and Authentic Forms that support advanced functions such as complex table handling, rich
input formatting, business logic validation, date control, and more.
Create Eye-catching Output
The rich, intelligent design features of StyleVision 2005 allow you to create stylesheets for
transforming XML or database data to eye-catching HTML, PDF, and RTF/Word output and Authentic Forms.
All presentation properties (text and block formatting, layout, hyperlinks, etc.) in your SPS are
translated into the corresponding XSLT and XSL:FO markup simultaneously, so the Authentic Form and
HTML, PDF, and Word/RTF outputs are visually consistent. In addition to previewing and saving the
stylesheets that are auto-generated based on your design, you can preview and save the HTML, PDF, and
Word/RTF output.
To leverage legacy content for use in your XML-based applications, StyleVision 2005 also
includes a handy HTML importer for converting existing HTML pages to an XML format consisting of an
XML Schema, XSLT stylesheet, and XML instance document. This feature adds extensibility to your
existing HTML content, which can now be used in XML applications and rendered in PDF, Word/RTF, and
Authentic Form formats, as well.

Every SPS you design automatically produces an Authentic Form for use with Altova Authentic 2005.
Authentic 2005 provides users with an intuitive, user-friendly interface for entering content

as the business user's data entry interface to advanced XML-based document frameworks and management-oriented
databases.
Because your SPS design simultaneously produces the XSLT and XSL:FO stylesheets in addition to the
Authentic Form, you can output the data entered through the Authentic Form directly to HTML, PDF, and
Word/RTF without having to design additional stylesheets.
